Deanio X is a London based artist making works that address legacies of erasure persisting from the colonial era. Having studied American Studies (History and Literature) at the University of Kent, and a PGDip at the Royal Drawing School, Deanio has developed a strong interest in the myriad ways humanity has sought to express the intangible elements of existence through folklore, philosophy and art.
By experimenting with an array of material combinations Deanio attempts to mimic the chaotic cosmic processes that catalyse life on Earth to visually reanimate absent figures and histories suppressed in canonical archives and human collective memory. Deanio has undertaken recent commissions from Marlborough London, Buckingham Palace, Palo Gallery New York, Royal Museums Greenwich London and South Bank University.
