Alex Chechik (b. Ukraine, 1987) is a Canadian artist living in Los Angeles, California. He earned a BAA from Sheridan College in 2009.
His practice revolves around figurative paintings that explores cultural collision and perception of the unfamiliar.
He focuses on the interplay of digital and tangible painting. Alex’s distinct technique combines into a unique visual language. Once he finalises a piece he prints it onto a variation of materials, including velvet. He then displays them in unorthodox settings, challenging the format and visual context that art is usually seen within.
