Fungai Benhura is a British Zimbabwean artist that graduated BA Drawing at Camberwell UAL in 2019 and is a recent graduate of the Royal Academy of Arts in 2024 and the recipient of the prestigous Stewarts Prize.
His work centres on the the use of delicate layering through found materials. Each layer is formed through scratched paper, glue and paint, creating a thread between each part of the piece. Through discovering new materials, techniques and processes Fungai creates each painting as a conduit into his own thought process, scratching away from the surface to reveal hidden layers, ideas and contexts.
